Gage Mace is an oil painter. He grew up in Los Angeles and abandoned a career as a radio broadcaster to take up painting. Now he uses his communication skills for teaching figure painting workshops and life drawing classes. Mace studied in the classical European painting tradition with Norwegian painter Jan Saether. In the years since, Mace has followed his own explorations of texture, color, form, and composition, but credits his studies with Saether as the backbone of his research into a singular style. Mace prefers to exhibit selectively so he can accommodate his far ranging subject matter & experiments without letting the marketplace dictate his style.
